Saendamangalam (Namakkal)

{There is another place by the same name near Ernakulam (Kerala) }
This is a Village Panchayat - a part of Namakkal District, and placed in between the Kollihills and Naina hills. The town has historic temples, like Perumal,Eswara,Thathagiri murugan and lot of mariamman temples Thus it is called as Temple city of the district.
Lovely, lively, small sleepy and active town.
This is a great town ,that was built before beyond your knowledge. (Feel proud to be born there)
Saying goes that the town was build on the name of great Hindu Epic Ramayana event of the Great Ram met(Sentha) & Seetha here after the victory of Ravana.
That’s how it’s called senthaMangalam.

It has fantastic town architecture of the city that was built around temple.
Clearly designed to run the Temple procession on four streets that’s used even today for Car Festival (Perumal Kovil Ther thiruwhiza)
The town has a Great Perumal temple. Also has Siva and Ganesh temple. My favorite is siva temple.

Wonderful streets built for different sect of society. Bad part is the Caste system. Even in this modern day it plays big role here in the town politics.
The main street is a nice old style Market street which is the main business center for the town.
Also it has a weekly Sunday country market place ,where thousands of merchants come from all over near by villages to sell their goods.
The town has one 50 years old Cinema Theater(Lakshmi) and bunch of restaurants that gives night life to the locals.
You can have a nice dinner for just around 10 rupees with fresh Omelet and nice hot parottas.
Still Agriculture is the major source of economy, although few entrepreneurs trying to set up new textile business , nothing succeeded greatly.
Just away from the town you can see green lush paddy fields and tall hills with hardworking form workers.

Famous festivals
Ther Thiruvizha,
Mariamman festval
Masimalaiyan festival
etc..

Hey.My name is jayaraman, though affectionately called Sendamangalathan. Yes I am proud to be called like that. It is my birth place. It is the place where my tiny legs carried me in and around Sendamangalam. It is the place where my little fingers played in sands and dirt. My tiny legs carried me to Bommakulam and Achu Kinaru for swimming and in fact I learnt swimming there only though I made a dive recently in YMCA swimming pool in Boston. USA. Even those days I stared Naina Malai especially during full moon. I do not know why I do like that, but to day I long to see the place and look at Nainamali in a full moon day. Last week I compulsorily made a visit to Sendamangalam ( may be my last ) as I presently live in USA. Tears rolled down from my eyes unstoppingly when I gazed a look at the High school grounds, my class room, and foot ball ground. With all gay mood I entered Sendamangalam, and slowly returned in a more sober mood, nay total melancholy. With tears welled my eyes, I said good bye sendamangalam knowing that I may not be coming to this great place, my birth place again. Any way thank God and bye Sendamangalam.
